Special Year End Code Geass Anime Review

What started out as a popular mecha series in Japan spread like wildfire across different countries. Code Geass, which started airing on October of 2006 and ended September of 2008 has been continually a subject of talks and debates among anime fans. Not only has it managed to capture different faces of human emotions. It has also left various lessons which are applicable in todays situation.

Code Geass is written by Ichiro Okouchi and directed by Goro Taniguchi. In thisCode Geass anime review, we will tackle some of the things that made the anime a popular hit among teens and adults alike. If you have watched then entire series, you are welcome to drop in your comments as well.

Strong and consistent theme. Compared to other anime series that plays along different themes in an attempt to capture more viewers, Code Geass centered on revenge and made it a very strong driving force by making it a motivation for the protagonist, Lelouch Lamperouge. From his desire to flee Britannia to his plan on bringing down the royalties who killed his mother, Lelouch became a figure with a clear motivation for the entire story.

Characterization. No matter how good the plot, without great and relatable characters, you still cannot get attached to the story. But Code Geass created awesome characters that are easy to like. Each of them, especially the main ones are reflective of a particular group of people. It should not be a surprise then to love the antagonists as the story unfolds.

Great friendship. When things get rough and blood starts to spill over the place, one thing that can relieve the tension and give us a fresh new start is friendship. The creators of this anime took this seriously and gave us a wonderful treat. There were of course deaths. But all in all, the bond that they made along the painful journey was unbreakable.

Family conflict. Revenge might be a common theme to a lot of anime. But if it has something to do with going against your family in a battle to death, then that is an entirely different story. But this is exactly what Code Geass has done. And they did it great. In a span of fifty episodes, covering two seasons, the story managed to lay down family issues and the motivations that behind each members actions.

Weapons. If the Gundam series called them mobile suits, this anime termed them as Knightmare frames. It is not as big as the gundam units but are equally capable of inflicting huge damage. Their ability to get into close combat is also great.

Engaging plot. The main reason why this has garnered solid fandom and viewership is because of its great story which is engaging, intriguing and relatable. Characters were introduced for a reason and revelations were presented at the right moment to capture, increase or destroy the prevailing emotion on the story.

The production of mecha animation is prolific and you have a lot of anime to choose from. But if you have not seen Code Geass, you should definitely include this on your 2014 to watch list. Be thrilled.
